How to Calculate Square Footage
Square footage is simply the area of a space measured in square feet. For a plain rectangle, that's length times width — but rooms and lots rarely stay that simple, which is why this tool includes eight more shapes covering circles, angled walls, multi-sided patios, and rooms built from several rectangles at once. Always measure in one consistent unit before multiplying, and convert inches to feet (divide by 12) first if your tape measure gave you a mixed reading.
